I surprised my husband with the first Quarterly Co. box curated by GQ. The #GQQ01 box was inspired by "The GQ Smell-Better-Than-Ever Tool Kit" from the June 2014 issue. This is such a manly box! Everything inside smells wonderful!
Hmmm.....what's that smell?
Leave it to a magazine company to include lots of reading!
Le Fin Du Monde by Etat Libre d'Orange ~ Located in Paris, Etat Libre D'Orange is a fragrance company that goes against the grain to create edgy, remarkable scents. Le Fin Du Monde (meaning end of the world) is a mixture of popcorn, carrot seeds, cumin seeds, sesame, black pepper from Madagascar, freesia, vetiver, sandalwood, and more. Their website questions: How will the end smell? If only it would smell this good! Mike got two samples of the cologne in a nicely decorated brown bag. I'd like to think this is what Daryl Dixon smells like :-)
Santa Maria Novella's Carta D'Armenia Burning Papers ~ ($28) I wish we had a year's supply of these babies! Burning papers originated in Europe during the 16th century. Four hundred years later, the Carta D'Armenia papers are still manufactured true to their origins with frankincense and myrrh scents. They burn for approximately 5 minutes, which is long enough to remove those undesirable bathroom odors!
Bvlgari's Aqva Amara Shampoo ~ ($38) This just smells strong. The fragrance is inspired by the Mediterranean with a combination of mandarin, orange, patchouli, and frankincense. It can be used as a shampoo and a shower gel. I'll put this right beside my #NGQ03 products!
Tybee Solid Cologne by Fulton & Roark ~ ($42) I guess I owe GQ and Quarterly thanks for finally getting my husband on-trend! Inside this square tin is a highly concentrated solid cologne. It's easy to apply and is long-lasting. You just rub, apply, and smell awesome! Tybee Island is known for its simplicity, warmness, and clean salt air. Fulton & Roark captured that essence in this scent with rosewood and cedar. The shatterproof tin fits easily in the pocket of the on-the-go man.
Aedes de Venustas Candle ~ ($70) L'Artisan Parfumeur created this candle exclusively for Aedes de Venustas with limited distribution. We LOVE this scent! There's a strong presence of incense which fills the front part of our house with the awesome smell. In addition to the Japanese incense, there are hints of leather, balsam, and strawflowers. It looks like a votive in the picture, but don't let it fool you. It's 6.5 ounces, which is about twice as large as a votive.
I think my husband really enjoyed his #GQQ01 box! His favorite item is the Fulton & Roark Solid Cologne. I'm glad he has some nice products and his own Quarterly Co. box. He was starting to feel a little left out of the subscription craze at our house. We are looking forward to the next GQ box!
