iDiscoverBox

Do you cherish your smartphone?  If so, you MUST check out iDiscoverBox!  It's a new subscription service that sends out three accessories for your smartphone each month.  These items include phone covers, chargers, cables, screen protectors, and more.  They are also one of the most reasonably priced subscription services out there.

I chose to subscribe to this company for several reasons.  The first is that these products will help extend the life of my phone and I find that to be a good investment.  I normally do not like shelling out money for extra chargers and screen protectors because they are pricy at stores and I hate paying shipping for online orders.  But the idea of paying an affordable up-front fee for a year and receiving these things as little surprises each month appeals to me so much more.  Secondly, I consider my phone an accessory, just like a necklace or scarf.  I know I'm going to love the fact that I can change my cell phone cover more frequently than what I already do!

Let's talk price.  The last cell phone case I bought was $25 plus tax at the mall.  If you subscribe for one year with iDiscoverBox, the fee is $9.99 a month with free shipping.  Grand total: $119.88 for the year.  I could either buy 4 cases at the mall or subscribe to iDiscoverBox and get 36 items over the course of  twelve months.  They also have three other purchasing options: monthly for $15.99, 3 months for $11.99/mo, and 6 months for $10.99/mo.  Free shipping for all choices!  It's nice to have choices.

I also wanted a makeup subscription box, but concluded that most of those offer things you can TRY or sample.  iDiscoverBox sends you things you can USE.  I have found one review for this company for an iPhone.  I believe they tailor their case selections based on your gender, but am not sure.

If you have an iPhone 4/4s, iPhone 5/5s, iPhone 5C, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Motorola Ultra/Motorola Maxx XT 180, or a Nokia Lumia 521, then you must check them out!  At this time they are only providing accessories and phone use tips for these models.  They also anticipate adding tablet accessories in the future!

As soon as I receive my box, I will post pictures.  We originally planned on subscribing for my daughter's Galaxy S3, but I decided my phone needed more style!  So after they ship on February 15th, you can check out the Galaxy Note 3 goodies right here.

Loot Crate or Nerd Block?

This is the fifth day in a row school has been cancelled, so I might as well blog.  Now that my daughter and I have a subscription box, it is my son's turn to get one.  He is five years old and loves Minecraft and superheroes.  He has been watching Loot Crate and Nerd Block videos and really likes both companies.  I've been trying to weigh the pros and cons of each company.  Ideally, I would like to join both.  Maybe we will subscribe to one this month and the other next month.  I know my son would love the t-shirts from Nerd Block, but he really loved the fact Loot Crate sent a Minecraft calendar last month.

Since I am a visual person, I created a table comparing the two companies with my own thoughts about each.  Consumer decisions are so tough!  That's why I love reading blogs and watching Youtube videos now.  I do like how Loot Crate tells you up front the total of the monthly subscription, $19.37.  With Nerd Block you have to set the shipping country under the subscription tab before you can find out the total price of $29.49 for a U.S. shipment.  Based on the info, it might come down to ship date and subscription options.  I think my son would be happy with the items from either company.

As long as my kids continue to do well in school, both academically and behaviorally, we will continue their subscriptions.  These make great incentives!

Kawaii Monthly for My Daughter

I have spent several days watching "unboxing" videos on Youtube with my kids.  Needless to say, my subscription box addiction is making its way to my children.  Somehow we managed upon a video for a Kawaii subscription box.  This was my first experience with Kawaii - I had never heard of it before.  My daughter loved the box and begged for one.

An internet search turned up three subscription boxes for Kawaii items.  One comes from SuperKawaiiPop in California.  Another is from Kawaii Club International.  And the final one is from Kawaii Monthly in Japan.  All three offer items along the same theme, but there are some differences.  As I am learning about squishies and re-ment, I can't help but wonder what my daughter is going to do with this stuff.

SuperKawaiiPop is in her third month of offering a Kawaii subscription box.  Her website is http://superkawaiipop.com/blogs/news/10020189-kawaiibox   This is the box my daughter initially wanted, but she decided on another.  It is $20 a month with free shipping.  You can find unboxing videos on Youtube, specifically TheHollycopter channel.  Kawaiibox offers a lot of paper, squishies,  stickers, and miniature items.  She averages 5 - 8 items in each box.  Since I'm sure my daughter will like all of the items in this box, I will probably subscribe to it next month.

Kawaii Club International (based in the UK) is a subscription service by Keep It Secret and seems to be the most popular and longest running of the three subscriptions.  They have the most youtube unboxing videos and online reviews.  This box offers around 5 - 6 items each month and is the most expensive of the three.  A recurring one month subscription is $34.46 plus shipping and handling, which is approximately $5.  You also have the option of subscribing for 3 months and 6 months at a time.  The prices for these subscriptions include shipping fees.  A three month subscription is $98.22 (save $5.17) and a six month subscription is $189.54 (save $17.24).  You can check Kawaii Club out at http://www.kawaiiclub.co.uk

Kawaii Monthly is the third Kawaii subscription box company I found.  This is the box we decided on, primarily because it sends a variety of objects, comes from Japan, and is the cheapest subscription at $18.99 a month/free shipping.  My daughter's first box ships in five days!  She really likes the fact that it includes a candy item and is sent from Japan.  The website, http://kawaiimonthly.com, says each box has 5 items that could be beauty products, charms, stationary, plush items, and other things they think would be enjoyed.

As soon as the Kawaii Monthly box arrives, we will review and post it.  Hopefully we will be reviewing SuperKawaiiPop's Kawaiibox too.  I really want to support them because they are a U.S. based company!  Plus, my daughter loves stationary, which seems to be their specialty.

http://imonthlysubscribe.blogspot.com/2014/03/gizmo-crate-review-march-2014.html

I am an elementary school teacher with too much time on my hands this week.  It has snowed heavily for the past two weekends.  My school district called off school last week due to the snow and cold weather.  Therefore I had plenty of time to surf the internet!  My current obsession is monthly subscription boxes.  I cancelled my NatureBox subscription last month thinking I needed to save money because my health insurance increased.  To my surprise, it did not go up as much as I had expected.  So now I have been searching for new subscription boxes.

I just subscribed to GizmoCrate, which is scheduled to launch February 2014.  This new company is appealing to my inner-technology teacher.  GizmoCrate promises to choose a wonderful combination of 4 - 6 great gadgets and artisanal foods.  Based on the photos I see on their website, www.gizmocrate.com, I know I am going to love these crates!  All of the pictured products are right up my alley.  The first crate ships February 15, 2014.  I plan on posting "unboxing" pictures here as soon as it arrives!  I know techies out there are going to enjoy GizmoCrate.  The one-month plan is $39.  I received $10 my subscription with the code "rock10".  You can also join for 3-months, 6-months, or 12-month.  They also have a Facebook page, Instagram account, Twitter account, Youtube channel, Tumblr page, and Google + profile.
