Loot Crate Review August 2014

This month's Loot Crate balances out the scale of good vs. evil.  Last month, Loot Crate spotlighted the villains.  Now it's time to honor the heroes!

Loot Crate Magazine, Issue 13 ~ From video games to blockbuster movies, heroes are everywhere.  Issue 13 discusses the origins of several popular heroes, including Batman, Rick Grimes, and The Ghostbusters.  I enjoyed reading Joshua Brown's article.  Candice Shane questions what makes a hero.  This was an insightful look at how we perceive real-life and make believe heroes.

Digital Loot ~ I haven't checked this out yet, but it looks interesting.  Loot Crate gave us this bonus exclusive to unlock and download codes to some online games.  I do love a good online game!

Chimichang'Os Magnet ~ Apparently Chimichang'Os is the cereal of choice for anti-hero Deadpool.  The magnet was designed by Zack Finfrock.  I'm thinking that Deadpool is an office favorite at Loot Crate.  He made it in both the Villains and Heroes boxes!

Mega Man Air Freshener ~ This is proudly hanging in my son's room to ward off the stench from his dirty socks!  Subscribers either got Sonic, Proto Man, or Mega Man.  Ours is Proto Man with the apple cinnamon scent.

August Collectible Pin ~ The pin features three heroes from the magazine cover and two Avengers.  I love how we catch a glimpse of Thor and last month's pin gave us a glimpse of Loki!  I also like how Batman and Harley Quinn appeared on the Heroes and Villains pin.

Shwings ~ ($8.95) These have been spotted on the shoes of Gwen Stefani's kids and Heidi Klum's children.  Loot Crate secured the Silver Foil Lightning Bolt accessories to help us race around like The Flash.  I would like to buy more of these.  You can get designs like wings, flames, butterflies, mustaches, and more!  (Shwings typo in the magazine)

TMNT Mask Glasses ~ ($9.99) This was one of my son's favorite things in the box.  He got Leonardo's blue mask and loves them.  I still can't believe he liked TMNT more than GOTG.  If you want all four, I've found them on Halloween costume sites.

TMNT Full Figure ~ ($9.99) This is from the Ooze Action Glow in the Dark series by Kidrobot.  Ryker got Michelangelo, who comes with nunchucks.  He's about 2 inches tall.

Funko Pop! Groot Exclusive ~ Groot is my favorite Guardian!  I love Pop! Vinyl Figures and almost pre-ordered Groot this weekend, but got sidetracked.  Now I will buy the Dancing Groot when it comes out.  This figure is a Loot Crate exclusive.  His arm glows in the dark.  I wish every box had a Pop! Vinyl.

In conclusion, Heroes rock!  Loot Crate did an excellent job embracing this summer's blockbusters and honoring some of the most beloved heroes in pop culture.  Loot Crate starts at $13.37 a month, plus $6 shipping.  You can also purchase 3-month and 6-month plans.  I didn't take a picture of the box, but this month it depicts the TMNT's lair.  Gotta love the creativity behind this company!
